What we collect, why, who sees it, and how to reach us about it.
Who is responsible
AVOW is a brand of Ben's business name and address, Canada. We follow Canada's privacy law for businesses (PIPEDA). Our privacy contact is name and the AVOW email address.
What we collect, and why
- Your design request: the piece and options you chose, your notes, and any sketches or photos you send. We use them to make your preview and your piece.
- A photo of you, if you ask for it: when you choose "Show it on me", the photo of your hand, wrist, ear or neckline you send is used only to make your preview on you. We don't publish it or use it for anything else, and we delete it within 90 days unless you ask us to keep it with your order.
- How to reach you: your name and email. We use them to send your preview, answer your questions and update you on your order.
- Your order: your shipping address and the order details. We use them to make and deliver your piece, and to keep the records tax law requires.
- Payments: handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
- Our emails: only if you sign up. You can unsubscribe from any email in one click.
Who we share it with
- Our maker in India: your design, and the name and address your piece ships to.
- The courier that delivers your parcel.
- Stripe, for payments.
- Our email provider, if you sign up for our emails. MailerLite
- Google Fonts: our website loads its fonts from Google, which receives your device's IP address when a page loads.
We never sell your information. Because our team and our maker work from different countries, your information may be stored or used outside Canada, including in the United States, India and Vietnam. It is then protected by the laws of those countries.
Cookies
Our website uses no advertising or tracking cookies. If you save favourites with the heart, the list is kept only in your own browser (its local storage), on your device: it is never sent to us, and clearing your browser's data removes it. Update this if analytics are added.
How long we keep it
Design requests that don't become orders are deleted after 12 months. Order records are kept as long as tax law requires.
Your choices
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, have it corrected, or withdraw your consent, for example to stop our emails. Message us and we'll reply within 30 days. If you're not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
